buy joist and deck from Vulcraft at a real bargain.
How does this work?

Nucor Building Systems is completely autonomous.
Nucor Building Systems supplies joist and deck
when part of a complete building system, but does not
sell or supply these items as separate components.
Nucor
Building Systems, Nucor Steel, and Vulcraft
all have separate marketing vehicles that rarely
overlap. We
respect the loyalty Vulcraft has to their mode of distribution
and do not directly compete with their customers on
components.
Are
there advantages to having sister divisions in the steel
business?

Nucor Building
Systems receives the same pricing from sister divisions
as any other customer for like products.
However, we do have one real advantage.
Intimate knowledge of other divisions' products
and processes allows us to work together to accomplish
more economical material solutions.
This creativity and close communication, along
with our research center in Nebraska, allows us to more
effectively integrate raw material options into our
building solutions.
Is
Nucor Building Systems a member of MBMA?

Yes. Nucor
is proud to be a member and is active in many committee
functions.

What steps does Nucor take to be competitive?

much industry experience.
In addition, we have people at every level from
many competitive companies within the business.
While others were cutting back, Nucor implemented
an aggressive expansion program. This combined
with our state of the art manufacturing facilities,
allows Nucor to design and produce a complete building
package with real efficiency.
What
about National Accounts?

At Nucor, we know that National Account customers represent
a significant share of the building construction market
and we recognize the importance of these customers to
a builder network. That is why Nucor is committed to these customers and employs
a National Account Manager to work directly with the
end customers to meet their unique requirements.
Our goal is to create a preference for Nucor
and the Nucor Builder Network by communicating our capabilities,
developing a mutually beneficial relationship, and supplying
metal buildings to them through the Builder Network.
Through our team effort and successful project performance,
Nucor has had a great deal of success with this program. As we continue to grow, we are gaining a preference with more
and more National Accounts across the country and we
will continue our commitment to service this very important
group of customers.
Does
Nucor have a complete product line?

Definitely. Nucor
has a wide range of products including wide bay buildings,
a number of wall options including hard wall systems.
Nucor also has a great Standing Seam Roof.
The addition of deck as a roofing solution allows
a builder to use single ply as a roofing option.
Nucor has what it takes to do the job tight.
What
seems to hurt my business most are the surprises that
come with the construction business.
I'm often disappointed on delivery with my present
supplier. How
does Nucor handle this?

At Nucor, we go to great lengths to make sure that commitments
given are met.
While we are aggressive with delivery commitments,
we also take them very seriously.
Upon order entry, the schedule for projects are
confirmed to you in writing. Using the DCD (Division
Committed Delivery) process, you can actually establish
delivery in writing before your order is entered.
Does
Nucor have the internal structure that can take care
of
my needs?

No doubt about it.
Nucor has specialized people that deal with everything
from sales and marketing to construction and shipping.
The Nucor style of few layers of management assures
you, the customer, of easy access to a variety of "hands
on" managers.

Nucor
seems to have great advertising support. We see Nucor
ads in many magazines we read.
How do the leads generated by these ads get to
the market?

Right you are!
Nucor advertises in a wide range of publications.
Many of these are aimed at end users (freight
and warehouse, manufacturing, etc.). These leads are
turned over to the proper district sales manager who
shares the lead with the builder whose qualifications
most fit the project.
This allows the end user to get the proper council
for the project early on.
Our
crews need a little polish to be really good at what
they do. How do we get them the training they need?

Nucor has an ongoing program of field assistance.
We have a full-time field technician devoted
to this' type of pro-active training.
Many of our field tech's days are spent actively
training our builder’s crews.
